WSDM (pronounced "wisdom") is one of the premier conferences on Web-inspired research involving Search and Data Mining.
WSDM is a highly selective conference that includes invited talks, as well as refereed full papers. WSDM publishes original, high-quality papers related to search and data mining on the Web and the Social Web, with an emphasis on practical yet principled novel models of search and data mining, algorithm design and analysis, economic implications, and in-depth experimental analysis of accuracy and performance.
Industry Day on Feb. 11: it includes a full day of featured talks from a wide range of consumer-facing brand-name companies as well as talks from sectors unexpected to see at WSDM. The talks will cover how machine learning has been put to use in practical scenarios, how user behaviour can be observed and used to improve systems in practice, how industrial pipelines can be optimized, and how scale is a challenge in more ways than the obvious.
WSDM also organizes competitions. This year four data mining and optimization tasks were provided by ByteDance, Spotify, Baidu, and Sichuan Airlines. The top-three teams for each task will be invited to present their solutions at the WSDM Cup 2019 Workshop on Feb. 15.
